Today, in the presence of over 200 guests, including the Deputy Governor of the district, heads of friendship groups in the parliaments of Serbia and Turkey, deputies in the Grand National Assembly of the Republic of Turkey, mayors of Prijepolje and Novi Pazar, Ambassador Markovic inaugurated the Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Serbia in Bursa headed by the Honorary Consul, Mr. Zarif Alp.

 

The ceremony was also attended by more than 50 prominent businessmen from Bursa, who are members of the association of Turkish businessmen from the Balkans - RUMELISIAD, of which Mr. Zarif Alp is the president.

 

In his speach, Ambassador Markovic emphasized the importance of good bilateral relations between Serbia and Turkey, which will certainly give new impetus to the appointment of Zarif Alp, especially in terms of economic cooperation, bearing in mind that he is one of the most prominent businessmen in the metal industry with its 7 factories, and a subcontractor of brands such as Ferguson, Fiat and Renault.

 

Ambassador Markovic further pointed out that Zarif is also recognized in the emigrant community as someone who gathers people around him and selflessly helps his hometown, the place where he came from - Prijepolje.

 

Ambassador Markovic wished the newly appointed consul success in the work he already has in the field of industry to have it in his new capacity as well.

 

In addition to Ambassador Markovic and the Consul Alp, the heads of friendship groups of both National Assemblies as well as MPs of all parties in the Turkish Parliament, adressed and spoke on the reputation that Zarif Alp enjoys in Bursa.

 

The meeting was also attended by the Deputy President of TAS-YAPI Corporation, which is building a highway from Belgrade to Sarajevo and expanding the network of local roads on the stretch Novi Pazar - Tutin.
