President of the Republic of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, and Prime Minister of the Republic of Serbia, Ana Brnabić, today met with the Foreign Minister of the Republic of Turkey, Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, and, in separate talks on strengthening bilateral and economic relations, agreed that there is ample room for boosting cooperation between the two countries, especially in the fields of energy, tourism, culture and education.

President Vučić expressed satisfaction with the achieved level of bilateral relations featured by intensive political dialogue, deepened cooperation and mutual trust and respect.

President Vučić particularly highlighted the personal contribution of President Erdoğan, which resulted in the arrival of numerous Turkish investors in Serbia, as well as the importance of the Joint Committee for Economic Cooperation, which strengthened ties between our two countries and can make an additional economic contribution. The interlocutors agreed that it is necessary to intensify the work of this Committee in the forthcoming period.

"Investments of Turkish companies in Serbia in the last two years are intensifying with the prospect of further growth, and in that sense, I welcome Turkey's growing interest in investing in the Serbian economy, as well as the implementation of a series of investments in underdeveloped parts of Serbia," said President Vučić, adding his hopes that this positive trend would continue, especially in terms of infrastructure.  

Minister Çavuşoğlu conveyed President Erdoğan's greetings and invited President Vučić to visit Turkey.

The interlocutors agreed that the exceptional personal and professional relationship between the two presidents significantly contributes to the development of political, economic and all other ties between Serbia and Turkey and that there is much room in the relations between the two countries for the improvement of cooperation in the fields of energy, tourism, culture and education.

Prime Minister of the Republic of Serbia, Ana Brnabić pointed out during talks with the Turkish head of diplomacy that the relations between Serbia and Turkey are at an extremely high level, thanks to the intensive dialogue, understanding, mutual support, as well as the exceptional personal and professional relationship between Presidents Aleksandar Vucic and Tayyip Erdogan.

The Prime Minister said that, thanks to the personal engagement of President Erdogan, Turkish investors were encouraged to invest in Serbia.

Emphasising that there is exceptional cooperation with Turkish companies, she cited the example of the takeover of the new plant and workers of the company Geox by the Turkish company Teklas, as an exceptional type of support to citizens and the country in which it operates.

Also of special importance, as she stated, is the interest of Turkish companies for investing in less developed municipalities, which greatly contributes to raising the standard of living.

The head of Turkish diplomacy assessed that Turkish companies are satisfied with the business conditions in Serbia and that there is increased interest in investing, primarily in the energy sector, but also tourism, for which he expressed the expectation that a significant area of ​​cooperation will remain after the pandemic.

Brnabic expressed support to the Turkish Agency for Cooperation and Coordination (TIKA), which is working on the renovation of many cultural and historical monuments in Serbia, and Cavusoglu pointed out that the agency would continue the restoration of monuments in our country, inviting local governments to submit their projects.
