Ambassador Zoran Markovic, in the presence of the governor of the Alanya district, Fatih Urkmezer, the mayor of Adem Murat Yucel, and the honorary consul, Oktay Karaca, officially opened the consulate.

The opening ceremony was attended by senior officials from Antalya and Alanya, honorary consuls, and representatives of the tourism and business sectors.

Ambassador Markovic pointed out that Alanya is a very important region of the Republic of Turkey with huge potential, which is visited by more and more citizens of Serbia every year. “I firmly believe that our dear Oktay is the right choice for this position and that with him at the head of the consulate, relations between our two friendly countries will gain additional momentum, not only in the field of tourism, but also in all other sectors where Serbia and Turkey can cooperate.

Mr. Oktay Karaca is well known to everyone in Antalya as a successful businessman, committed to his vision, so we expect that he will give his full contribution in terms of improving our relations.

Mr. Karaca stated "that he would like to especially thank the support and presence of high-ranking officials from the city of Alanya,on whoses full cooperation he counts on in the future, in his new capacity. I am honored and pleased to have the opportunity today to greet and host dear colleagues, representatives of other countries as well as representatives of career consulates in Antalya and Alanya.

I highly appreciate the presence of media representatives, who are an indispensable link in the promotion of friendship between Serbia and Turkey, and I expect them to follow my work in the future, and I will always be open for cooperation. In order not to go any further, I will let my deeds speak about me in the future, and now I invite you to enjoy this moment together. " Karaca stated.

The Mayor of Alanya, Adem Murat Yucel, emphasized the great importance of opening the Honorary Consulate of Serbia in Alanya, primarily due to cooperation in terms of tourism, but also economic and business relations, emphasizing also the fact that this is the 11th Honorary Consulate opened in Alanya.
